As a notary public, I administer oaths, affirmations, affidavits and statutory declarations made by individuals who need to swear or affirm the truth of a statement or a document for use overseas.

For example, a person seeking to get married abroad will often be asked to swear an affidavit that there is no impediment to the intended marriage.  In that case, I can use a form that you bring to me for the purpose or I can help prepare the affidavit for you to swear to when we meet.  An affidavit is usually required to be given by someone who is a party to case being heard in an overseas Court; by swearing the affidavit, my client avoids the need to attend the Court in person.  Usually, in these cases, the form of the affidavit will have been prepared by your lawyers in the relevant foreign jurisdiction.
